Parliamentary Delegation of Baluchistan visits Sri Lanka

The Parliamentary delegation of Balochistan Provincial Assembly of Pakistan, headed by Speaker Mir Jan Muhammad Khan Jamali will be arriving in Colombo today on a 4 day visit from April 24-28, 2014.

The visit aims at further strengthening Pakistan – Sri Lanka bilateral parliamentary relations and exploring ways to enhance bilateral ties between the two friendly countries in regional and global context.

During his visit, Speaker Mir Jan Muhammad Khan Jamali is scheduled to call on the President of the Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka HE Mahinda Rajapasha. He will also meet the Speaker Parliament of Sri Lanka HE Chamal Rajapaksa and will also observe the proceedings of the Sri Lankan Parliament.

The Honorable Speaker will meet the members of Sri Lanka Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship Association in the Parliament and will attend a luncheon hosted by Hon Chamal Rajapaksa.

Mir Jan Mohammad Jamali is a prominent politician of Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz), hailing from Jaffarabad, Balochistan. He was first elected as a member of Provincial Assembly of Balochistan in 1988. In his political career, Speaker Jamali has held several important position such as Deputy Chairman Senate of Pakistan, Chief Minister Balochistan and Provincial Minister.

Other members of the delegation includes Balochistan Government Ministers Sardar Ghulam Mustafa Khan Tareen, as well as Members of Parliament Mrs. Ruquiya Saeed, Mrs. Samina Khan, Ms. Arifa Siddiqui, Mrs. Spozmi Achakzai and Mir Amir Rind.
