A British Sri Lankan who allegedly knocked down a man on the Puttalam-Kurunegala road on Saturday, suffered a cardiac arrest on seeing the hapless victim, and died.

The deceased, Nicolas Allen Thorn (65), was a British National who had obtained Sri Lankan citizenship. He had been working as a member of a non-governmental organization and had resided at Karuwalagaswewa in Puttalam.

Following the accident both the driver of the vehicle (the deceased) and the injured person had been rushed to the Puttalam Base Hospital. However, later it was revealed that the Briton had died while the accident victim had recovered and was receiving treatment at the hospital. (Jude Samantha)
