Provincial Council Election campaign ends tonight

Election SecretariatCampaigning for the March 29 Western and Southern Provincial Council Poll will be concluded by midnight today (March 26).

According to election laws, all propaganda activities must come to an end 48 hours prior to the election day.

Final campaign rallies of all parties in the fray would be held today.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa as the leader of the SLFP the main constituent party of the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) will address the final propaganda campaign rally at Deberawewa in Tissamaharama this evening.

Opposition and United National Party (UNP) Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe will address his party’s final rally at Kosgashandiya in Grandpass.

The JVP Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake is due to speak at several rallies in all six districts going to the polls.

Leader of the Democratic Party (DP) former Army Commander Gen. Sarath Fonseka is scheduled to address his party’s final rally at Homagama.

General Secretary of the Ceylon Workers’ Congress (CWC) Minister Arumugam Thondaman is scheduled to address the final rally at Gasworks Street in Pettah.

Leader of the Democratic People’s Front (DPF) Mano Ganeshan will address his party’s final rally at Ratnam playground down Jampettah Street, Kotahena.

Leader of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress Justice Minister Rauff Hakeem will address the SLMC’s final rally at Maligawatte.

Leader of the Akila Illankai Makkal Congress (ACMC) Minister Rishard Bathuideen will speak at Hultfsdorf.
