Sri Lanka Navy arrested 74 Indian fishermen along with 18 Indian fishing trawlers poaching in Sri Lankan waters on 19th March 2014.

21 Indian fishermen along with 05 Indian fishing boats engaged in poaching in the seas North of Thalaimannar were arrested by naval craft attached to the North Central Naval Command on routine patrol. 53 Indian fishermen and 13 Indian fishing boats engaged in poaching in the seas off Delft were arrested by Northern Naval Command on routine patrol. .

The arrested fishermen and the boats were handed over to the officials of the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources in Thalaimannar and KKS for further investigations.
