Arrangements have been made to hold an international research symposium by the Sri Lanka Council for Agricultural Research Policy (SLCARP) of the Ministry of Agriculture at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute, Independence Square in Colombo on August 11 and 12.

This would be the first ever international research symposium by the SLCARP, according to the council sources.

The SLCARP from March 16, this year commenced receiving research abstracts and extended abstracts from researchers involved in agriculture (including animal science, aquaculture and fisheries) and allied fields in natural and social sciences for the Research Symposium.

The themes of the symposium Crop Production Technologies, Crop Improvement and Bio-Technology, Plant Protection, Natural Resource Management, Food Science and Technology, Agricultural Machinery, Postharvest Technology, Floriculture and Landscape Architecture, Forestry and Agro-Forestry, Livestock and Poultry, Aquaculture and Fisheries, Soil Sciences and other related thematic issues e.g. climate change, biodiversity/agro-biodiversity, IPR issues, policy issues, etc.
