A peaceful protest was held in Kalmunai town on Friday against the forces conspiring in the UN Human Rights Council against Sri Lanka. Muslims from many villages in the Ampara District participated in the procession.

The march was jointly organised by the Kalmunai Mohideen Jummah Grand Mosque, Kalmunai Anzar Sunnathul Muhammadhiya Jummah Mosque, Islamabath Akber Jummah Mosque including 21 mosques, 3 Traders Associations, 22 Social Services Organisations and 45 sports clubs.

Thousands participated in the protest shouting slogans against the resolution which is to be moved against Sri Lanka by the United States. Participants in the procession supported the stand taken by the President Mahinda Rajapaksa against the American resolution submitted in Geneva in this month.

The photographs of President Mahinda Rajapaksa and people carrying national flags walked in the procession. They also handed over the memento to the Kalmunai Divisional Secretary. All Mosques Federations President Dr. S.M.A. Azees submitted the memorandum against the American resolution submitted in Geneva to Kalmunai Divisional Secretary I.M. Haniffa.
