Mullaittivu New Army Woman Recruits Begin Training

Tamil women recruitment to the Army

Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps (SLAWC) instructors and trainers on Monday (17) commenced the Recruit Training Programme for all 29 Tamil women, enlisted to the Army from Mullaittivu district after the Army announced its vacancies for woman recruits.

The inaugural speech at the onset of the programme was delivered by Major General Jagath Dias, Commander, Security Force Headquarters – Mullaittivu (SFHQ – MLT) who requested those recruits to join hands as members of one family for development of the country as proud woman soldiers.

The 16-week long training programme, conducted in Tamil language, is to be contributed by woman instructors of  2 (v) SLAWC with all practical sessions. All those recruits from Mullattivu district after residential training sessions are over, have the rare opportunity of serving the same district, operating from their own homesteads.
